About Be.
Be. was founded in Sydney in 2022 to support individuals and communities to live with a greater sense of ease, internal safety and wellbeing. Be. provides telehealth and remote consultation Australia-wide.
Be is an independent practice with a difference.
We recognise humans as whole beings and draw on a person’s existing resources through the use of somatic (body and nervous system based) practices, neuroscience, emotion focussed and restorative practices.
We shift away from an individualistic perspective about wellbeing and trauma recovery, to one that recognises that individuals are impacted by their social context and have the power to make change.
We provide a sliding-scale of fees to support accessible counselling, coaching and supervision in response to financial stress and disadvantage.
Be. is socially conscious and aims to have a positive social impact by incorporating a range of progressive and anti-oppressive practices and carries out innovative social impact and workforce capacity projects.
About our founder
Hello, I’m Miranda Moir, the founder of Be.
I live on Dharawal land on the beautiful southeastern coast of Sydney. I’m a proud mother, partner, sister, daughter and friend who enjoys travel, reading, live music, ocean swimming and good food.
I’m a dedicated Social Work practitioner, supervisor, leader and academic with over 20 years of experience working with individuals, families, groups and leading reform and workforce improvements in government, not for profit sectors and independent practice. I have worked across a range of fields of practice including child abuse and neglect, developmental trauma, domestic and family violence, mental health, sexual assault, environmental justice and community development.
I am a mentor with the Australian Association of Social Workers, a certified NeuroFit coach and an approved Victims of Crime counsellor.
For many years I have strived to bring together the experience of individuals, with social justice principles focussed on collective care: coalescing the micro and the macro worlds that people live in.
My approach is founded on respect, trust and compassion. I believe good humour and a strong authentic connection are sources of healing and meaningful professional relationships.
I’m passionate about the power of lived-experience and how this wisdom is not only the driver of healing and recovery, but that it is also an important ingredient for professional expertise and social change. This passion comes from my own lived-experience of trauma and the learning that has come in my journeys to integrate what I knew (my thoughts and knowledge) with the reality of how I felt in my beliefs, emotions and body so that I could live a full life, and drive changes that help prevent others suffering.
